A high view can help you get photos from vantage points that no-one else is doing. The library is a popular one and is great for photographing Johnstone Park and the nearby buildings. It isn’t the only unique view.
Here are four of my favourites.
Geelong Library
The balcony of the Geelong Library is a popular photography spot. Youget great views of Johnstone Park, Mercer Street and the upcoming civic precinct. This is a useful area for photographing the building developments in those areas. It is also useful for photographing events at Johnstone Park.
You don’t get direct beach views, but you can see across Corio Bay towards the You Yangs. It may not be open on the day depending on weather conditions and events.
Civic Centre Car Park
This car park is located at Gheringhap Street across from city hall. You can access steps via a door on the Little Malop Street side. This location is useful for getting photos of Gheringhap Street section of Little Malop Street and Town Hall.
View from Market Square Car Park
The car park is a great vantage point to get photos of the Moorabool Street – Yarra Street section of the green spine. This can be an interesting spot to document changes along the green spine or people walking across the pedestrian crossing.
Ferris Wheel
This is a cheap way to get photos of Eastern Beach. Definitely recommended at sunset.
