Revitalising Central Geelong

2016

Malop Street Lab: The Malop Street Lab project was a temporary activation during the 2015-2016 summer period to test how people responded to the councils ‘City In A Park’ vision. The Malop street project added street furnituture, grass, trees and plants to Malop Street between Moorabool and Yarra Street.

2017

The Laneway Project: This project, which was part of the Laneways Action Plan, was the first step in turning the area of Little Malop Street between Gheringhap and Moorabool streets into a pedestrian-friendly destination. The road width was reduced and it was styled to become more of an al-fresco dining area. They added extra street trees, street art opportunities and improved lighting

2018

Continuing

Green Spine The section between Moorabool and Yarra Streets has now been completed. Construction on the next section, Gheringhap to Moorabool, will start in 2020.

Gheringhap Street Drain Project

Little Malop Street Mall Activation In September 2019, the council approved of minor works to improve safety in the area.
